Like many of the dual gauge projectors made by Eumig, this projector has two sets of sprockets and gates. To change formats, all you need to do is swap the gates and sprockets over. If you buy one of these projectors you should always make sure that both sets of gates and sprockets are present. Getting replacements can be quite difficult.

IMPORTANT: Before changing the film gate on one of these projectors, turn the inching knob (small knob at the rear of the projector) until the red dot is at the 12 o’clock position. If you don’t you risk damaging the projector claw.

Hello,

What exactly happens? Dose it stop completely or just run slow/fast?

As far as I can remember the Eumig Mark 8 is driven by the friction of the motor rubbing against two rubber coated disks. If the rubber has worn it will not run as fast if at all. I’ve read of people putting chemicals n the rubber to rejuvenate it and people lightly using fine sand-paper to rough up the rubber to get better grip. I would do that unless you are 100% sure that is what’s causing the problem as you could do more harm than good.

You could also try asking to the Small Format Forum or the 8mm forum. Someone on one of them maybe able to help.

Sam
